Bengaluru – A 26-year-old software engineer, Rohith R Patil, tragically died in a road accident on ITPL Road in Brookefield on Friday evening. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 pm as Patil was commuting to work. According to police reports, Patil’s motorcycle skidded after an optical fibre cable, which was lying loose on the road, entangled in the bike’s wheel, causing him to lose control and fall onto the road. Subsequently, a slow-moving BMTC bus, navigating through heavy traffic, ran over Patil. Despite wearing a helmet, Patil sustained severe injuries and succumbed to blood loss at the accident site. The HAL traffic police have initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the precise circumstances surrounding the accident and to understand how the abandoned optical fibre cable contributed to the motorcycle losing control. The incident has brought into sharp focus the critical need for proper road maintenance and the potential dangers posed by debris and unattended cables on roadways.
